Impacts Of Training And Retention Of Employees In An Orgal'iisation. (A Case Study Of Ugal'ida Police In Kampala Central Areas)

ABSTRACT

The study was to assess the Impacts of training and retention of employees in an organisation. (a case study of Uganda Police In Kampala Central Areas). The objectives of

the study are: To determine the types of training in an organization, To understand the relationship of training and retention in an organization, To find out the influence of training on employee retention and To assess the impacts of training on retention. The research was

quantitative study, which was descriptive in nature and based on primary data collection methods. In this research population was the whole category of police officers and police

commissioners in Kampala central.

It can be concluded that, the role of Training and retention on the police Service were, establishment of training gaps and to build capacity of employees relative to achieving the

overall vision and mission statements of the police Service of Uganda. The study concluded that, the impact of Training and retention of employees in police Service of Uganda were

mainly concerned with offeling learning and retention opportunities for staff and improvement of knowledge and skills at all levels in the organization. Also, it can be

concluded from the research that, Appropriate Training and retention of police staff can result in efficient performance of their job functions; therefore, inappropriate Training and

retention of police staff can lead to underperformance of their job functions. The researcher recommends that; Training content and delivery approaches should be

relevant to the job functions of employees, Training and retention provided by the police Service of Uganda should result in a better understanding of pe1formance objectives of

employees, The police Service of Uganda should conduct appropriate training needs assessment to ensure that, Training content for employees would result in efficient data

management and improved interpersonal relationship and retention, The frequency of external Training provided by the police Service of Uganda should be improved and targeted

at improving employee job performance., The police Service of Uganda should encourage best practices Training programs for employees to ensure consistency in the performance of

their job functions, Training and retention offered by the police Service of Uganda should ensure a better understanding of the Mission and Vision statement of the police Service of

Uganda so employees can identify themselves with the organizational values in the discharge of the duties.and The frequency ofTraining provided by the police service of Uganda should be improved to ensure that more employees have access to Training and retention
