ABSTRACT The study was set to establish the effect of recruitment policy on employee performance in public organizations taking National Water and Sewerage corporation (NWSC) Lira branch as a study case. It was based on three research objectives which included the effect of internal recruitment policies on employee's performance, the effect of external recruitment policies on employee's performance and examining the effects of recruitment methods on employee's performance in organizations. The study adopted a descriptive study using both quantitative and qualitative tools to recruitment policy and employee performance. The study was based on 67 respondents selected from NWSC Lira On the findings the study found out that internal recruitment is prevailing at NWSC and is among the functions enhancing performance in the organizations, the workers already working in the NWSC are more suitable for higher jobs than those recruited from outside the organization and it demonstrates that internal recruitment policies affect employee's performance in organizations. These were evidenced by majority respondents who were strongly positive to these statements. The study therefore recommends that, there is need for internal recruitment in NWSC in form of promotions to improve the capacity and motivate the other employees for hard work in the organizations, and that NWSC should also carry out research about the best recruitment methods and how to implement and effect them in the organization for better results in terms of performance.
