THE EFFECT OF LEADERSHIP ON WORKERS PERFORMANCE IN AN ORGANIZATION

The effect of leadership on workers’ performance plays an important role in the overall performance of the organization. In order words, leadership styles contribute to either high or low performance of an organization. The ability of the leader to effectively manage an organization can determine to a large extent the success or failure of the organization. A leader in running an organization is faced with many challenges and stiff competition in an ever changing environment, therefore to succeed and to ensure an organization thrives and grows, the leader has to fashion out a functional and dynamic leadership style so as to successfully manage the human and material resources effectively to achieve an organization’s objectives. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends the need for a leader to understand the nature of subordinates before adopting a particular leadership style.
