The Effects of White-collar Crime

Abstract

My research paper “The effects of white-collar crime”, is to investigate the effect of this crime on the people of Bangladesh and the socio-economic status of our country. The study revealed that the companies and government institutions suffer great losses because of this crime. Money laundering, embezzlement, corporate fraud is the most common kinds of white-collar crime. Most of these crimes are committed by the person working in an important and respectable position in a working field and the crimes are committed for financial benefits or personal gain. This eventually is affecting our economy negatively which in turn affects the general public. One of the recommendations made is to scrutinize very carefully when recruiting people and to have several monitoring steps. Also no one should go unpunished even if he or she is a respectable member of the society; the punishment should be given. The study found many factors and the negative impact of this crime on our companies, government institutions, and socio-economic environment and found some recommendations to prevent this crime.
