ABSTRACT 
The topic of the study was the impact of employee relations on staff performance a case study of the Electricity Supply Commission Uganda Limited. The Company has had a number of challenges as far as the relationship between the management and the employees who are concerned. Many employees have joined the institute and left. Employee relations ensures man- power development, establishing a closer contact between persons connected with the industry, management and the workers, creating a sense of belongingness in the minds of the ultimately maximizing social welfare in order to foster the achievement of desired goals and objectives. The purpose of the study was to determine how good employee relations improve staff performance in organizations. The company is the largest producer of electricity in Africa, it is among the top seven utilities in the world in terms of generation capacity and among the top nine in terms of sales. It operated Kendal Power station, the largest coal fire power station in the world and Koeberg nuclear plant in Africa. Its headquarters were in Johannesburg and it hand country offices in Uganda, Nigeria and Mali. In Uganda, the company has taken over the operations and maintenance of two power stations of Nalubale, and Kiira since 2003. The findings of the research showed that 80% of the respondents strongly agreed and 20% agreed on the statement the employee relation had an impact on organizational performance. Employee relations should be taken seriously because it had a great contribution to building the institutional image and increase staff performance in the organization.
