The Influence of Amisom on State-Building in Somalia as from 2007-2019

Abstract:

The study has looked at “the influence of AMISOM on state-building in Somalia as from 2007-2019” and its relevance in future development prospects. The proposal identifies that the role of AMISOM has evolved from the traditional peace-keeping mission to peace-building mission aligned towards strengthening institutions, developing laws, and carrying democratic elections. Therefore, the study focuses on; To assess the influence of AMISOM on State-building (Political, elections and reconciliation, Institutional Training of Police, Peacekeeping) in Somalia; evaluating the role of AMISOM on expanding Federal Member States’ services to the liberated areas; and analyzing the role of International Actors on AMISOM’s state-building strategies in Somalia. The study opted for a case study research design where qualitative data formed the major basis of analysis. The secondary data was acquired from international observer’s reports (EU report), World Bank reports, United Nation and its agencies reports, government reports, AMISOM reports from their official website, among others. The secondary data will be subjected through convenient content analysis in accordance to various themes of the study.
