Introduction


The growing population of Nigeria, great awareness of nutritional value of catfish, combined with increased consumer awareness of the danger possess by imported frozen fish (dangerous chemicals are used to preserve imported frozen fish), has led to an increased demand for locally breed catfish in Nigeria. Catfish is becoming one of the fastest growing replacing meat consumption as it’s very rich in protein. It is estimated that Nigeria consumes 3.2 million tonnes and local production capacity is 1.1 million tonnes while over 50% of the fish consumed in Nigeria are imported/snuggled to meet the growing demand. It was on this that Chaka Catfish Ltd decided to establish a catfish farm to rear quality and diseases free catfish to capitalize on the opportunities presented by ever increasing population and to meet the growing demands for quality catfish.  


The Company will create a catfish farm (using modern technology) located in Egbeda area of Lagos. Its initial capacity will be 10,000 catfish and will be harvested every 3-5months and in future the company will also process to increase value chain and to package it to meet local and international market (standards). The Company currently has commitments available from wholesale distributors, drinking joints, restaurants to purchase all of the fishes harvested. Products 

Currently, Chaka Catfish Ltd main goal is to rear high quality catfish that is diseases free and harvest and sell live fishes to potential customers who will then resell or process to meet their standard. Notwithstanding, we will go into processing and sales of juveniles in future as we grow in capacity and resources.
